From the land of the oldest free-standing man-made structures on Earth (pre-Pyramids), Spacelab welcomes you to join us at the Citadel on the island of Gozo (Malta) for Earth Hour 2019 where the Bastion Lights will be switched off at 8.30pm local time. At lights-out we will train our telescope to the skies to the tune of #CosmicSounds. Bring a red light, a blanket and an open mind.

• WHAT IS IT?

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a musical with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The story is based on the “coat of many colours” story of Joseph from the Bible’s Book of Genesis. This was the first Lloyd Webber and Rice musical to be performed publicly (the first, The Likes of Us, written in 1965, was not performed until 2005).

The show has little spoken dialogue; it is almost entirely sung-through. Its family-friendly story, familiar themes and catchy music have resulted in numerous stagings. According to the owner of the copyright, the Really Useful Group, by 2008 more than 20,000 schools and amateur theatre groups had staged productions.

• WHERE IS IT?

This musical is the fourth consecutive one being produced by Teatru Astra in Victoria Gozo – following the successful debut in Grease (2016), the record-breaking Evita (2017) and the tour-de-force in Jesus Christ Superstar in March/April 2018.

• WHERE?

Lejl Imkebbes (Mediterranean Diwali) is a festival of lights, which will be organized at the majestic city of Ċittadella in Gozo in collaboration with the Ministry Of Gozo, VisitMalta.com, and VisitGozo.com.

• WHAT IS IT?

Over 30,000 candles of all forms will light up the narrow streets of Cittadella, creating a wonderful magical atmosphere within this walled city, offering a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Gozo’s hills and valleys, villages, and churches and a view right across the sea to Malta.

The night also offers numerous activities for everyone with historic re-enactments, extended and cheaper museum entrances, the opening of other public venues of interest, live entertainment, and children’s activities.

In addition, food stalls offering both Maltese and other food, particularly Indian shall make this event truly a night that suits all tastes and ages.
